For over a decade, the Okochiri Beach Festival has brought people together through music, culture, entertainment and community. With attendance exceeding 20,000 people, the Festival has grown into a significant annual celebration within Rivers State and the wider Niger Delta.
To become Africa’s leading coastal cultural festival and a global platform for heritage, connection, tourism and opportunity.
To celebrate culture, connect communities and create opportunities through an extraordinary festival experience that brings together heritage, entertainment, tourism and business.
Once known for oil militancy and cult clashes, Okrika rebranded itself into a tourism hub. The beach party serves as a living symbol of peace, reconciliation, and communal unity.
The festival is personally hosted by the King, drawing dignitaries, high-profile political figures, socialites, and traditional leaders from across Rivers State and the wider Niger Delta region.
The carnival consistently features mega-star headliners. Over the years, top artistes like Davido, Asa, Asake, Tiwa Savage, Ice Prince, Two Baba, Burna Boy, Timaya, Zlatan, Iyanya, Duncan Mighty, Mayorkun, Joeboy, to name a few Erigga, and Odumodu Blvck have performed live on stage.
Alongside mainstream afrobeat performances, the event showcases indigenous Ijaw and Kirike heritage through traditional boat regattas, masquerade displays, and cultural dances along the waterfront.
The event draws thousands of visitors from Port Harcourt and neighboring states, driving local hospitality, transport, and small business commercial activity every January 3rd.
“It is a celebration of heritage, a platform for connection, a catalyst for opportunity and a gateway to the culture and coastal experience of Okochiri..”
